Our Team:
YachtCare has an experienced management team and a group
of technicians who have all worked in the industry for several years.
Jim Brown—General Manager:
Jim is a veteran in the field of boat repair and maintenance. Since
1986, Jim has worked in the marine industry. For eight years he
managed boat yard activities for two of Seattle's largest boat yards.
Jim has also managed the construction of ultra light sailboats. Jim's
hands-on experience, customer relationship abilities, and
management skills all result in the delivery of high quality customer
service.
Eric Elliott—Office Manager:
Eric literally grew up around boats and boating in a boating family
active in the marine industry. With eight years of experience
managing YachtCare, as well as the Elliott Bay Fuel Dock, Eric
keeps the office running smoothly. With YachtCare's recent
growth, Eric is now full-time with YachtCare, assisting Jim and
the technicians and handling the myriad details of running a
growing business.
Paul Chatel—Technician:
Paul started working in the marine industry in 1989 for LeClercq
Marine. He installed hydraulic systems on commercial fishing
boats. In 1991, Paul switched to yachts at Seaview boatyard. Paul did
mechanical, electrical, and rigging work at Seaview. He was with
Seaview for nine years, and rose through the ranks to lead mechanic
and then assistant manager. Paul is very versatile, and equally
capable whether doing technical work, estimates, or talking to
customers. Paul is active in Puget Sound sailboat racing, and also
delivers boats from Hawaii to the west coast now and then.
David Stearns—Technician:
Dave has been working in the marine field since 1975 where he
began at Fisheries Supply. Here he became acquainted with all
facets of boat parts and supply, met all the people in the industry,
and it was during this time that he became active in sailboat racing.
To this day, Dave is active in racing circles.
After a brief stint in automotive parts, Dave returned to the
marine industry as a technician working on local boats. In
1986, he joined the crew at Seaview East boatyard. For 17
years, Dave worked installing and repairing mechanical,
electrical, and rigging systems. Dave has done major and
minor refits, and helped clients through these projects. Dave
assumed duties as lead mechanic, and then co-manager of the
yard in the last few years. Dave joined YachtCare in 2003, and has been very successful at pairing YachtCare clients and their
boating experiences with system repairs, refits, and upgrades.
On weekends, Dave can be found racing on Puget Sound.
Jim Jacobs—Technician:
Jim has worked in the recreational marine industry since 1976.
After a stint in the U.S. Navy as a machinist mate from 1977-1981,
Jim worked in various marine repair shops in San Diego from
1982-1987. From 1987-1993, Jim worked as a mechanic and is
certified by many engine manufacturers after completing their
respective training courses. Jim has also served as a service
manager and parts manager for northwest boat repair companies.
Jim's depth of experience in the northwest marine scene helps him
and YachtCare to provide high quality, efficient service. When not
working on boats, Jim is an avid fly fisherman.
Court Percival—Technician:
Court started his boating career as a youngster growing up in an active
boating family. He's cruised the San Juans, Gulf Islands, and Puget Sound
extensively, and joined the Sea Explorer ship "Odyssey" in 1979. Here he
learned to love maintaining the ship. After seven years of working on this
ship, he joined Foss Environmental as a hazmat responder working his
way to the vessel service side as he grew in the company. Court joined
YachtCare in 2004 and has continued to grow in his craft of repairing and
maintaining yachts. When not working, Court is either sailing or working
on his 36' Islander sailboat.
Dwayne Bond—Technician:
Dwayne runs our south Seattle small boat repair facility. With 25 years of
experience in the repair and outfitting of inflatable, RIB, and outboard motor
combinations, Dwayne is the most experienced technician in the northwest.
Whether a major repair or routine maintenance, Dwayne is equipped to
handle it. We are very fortunate to have Dwayne on the YachtCare team.
